Bern, Switzerland

Arriving in Bern was nice, as it was a gorgeous day, and the city was amazing. No wonder it is listed one of the UNESCO world heritage sites. The city was bustling with people, bicycles, and once again, very few places where cars can actually go. We searched a few hotels, until we found one on the other side of the water from the old town, called Hotel Allegro... The view from the room below:

The first photo shows the view to the old town. It was really pretty. The hotel had it's own casino, which we did not explore, and a nice restaurant downstairs. We headed into the town just after 8pm or so and everything was dead... nobody was walking around anymore, very few people in the cafes, and all stores were closed. We tried to find a fondue place, but couldn't locate it anywhere. We eventually gave up and didn't feel like eating at any of the 14 pizza places we passed up on the streets. We then went back to the hotel and ate in the restaurant. It was a great meal, steak and risotto with steamed vegetables... Delicious!

Off to bed, we were both exhausted. When we awoke in the morning we showered and headed downstairs for breakfast, which was the same old thing as everywhere else we had been in Europe. We ate until we were both content, then checked out and decided to relax in the lounge downstairs. We each had a drink at the bar and then eventually headed into town around 2pm. Bustling with people, we explored a few of the city streets. A small fair was going on where cows and cheese were the main focus, but you could buy other items like hand made jewelry, hand spun wool yarns...

We walked through it and then decided to head back to the hotel to pick up the car. We were ready to head out to Geneve, Switzerland, but not without some beautiful pictures from the bridge! See below!

Next stop Geneve, Switzerland!
